Motorist killed and another injured in two-vehicle road crash

A man has died and another has been taken to hospital with leg injuries after a road crash.
The A75 was shut two miles east of Castle Douglas in Dumfries and Galloway following the two-vehicle collision at 3.30pm on Wednesday.
A 55-year-old man from Dalbeattie died and a 46-year-old was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.
Police have appealed for witnesses to the crash, which involved a Vauxhall Corsa car and a Vauxhall Movano van.
Drivers were diverted onto the A711 while officers investigated the crash, adding 17 miles to their journey.
