A giant bunny rabbit the size of a dog has become a global sensation after an animal charity announced he is looking for a new home.

Continental giant Atlas, who is seven months old, is being looked after by the Scottish SPCA while it searches for a new family for the "mischievous" bunny after his owner was forced to give him up.

Staff at the charity's centre in Cardonald, Glasgow, said it has been inundated with offers from people wanting to take Atlas in.

The giant bunny has hit the headlines around the world, featuring in the New York Post, Fox News and ABC News, USA Today and the Washington Post to name a few.

Even former model and celebrity Katie Price has offered to give Atlas a new home. She tweeted saying: "We will have rabbit if not gone."

Centre manager Anna O'Donnell said: "Atlas is already about the size of a westie and is still young with some growing to do. He is a very friendly rabbit who loves attention and getting cuddles.

"Atlas is also an inquisitive boy who makes everyone laugh with his mischievous character. We are looking for a specific home for Atlas due to his breed and size.

"A standard rabbit hutch won't do so his new owner will need plenty of space for him.

"Atlas needs an owner with the knowledge to properly care for him, so ideally someone who has kept a continental giant before.

"If anyone is interested in offering him a home they should give us a call on 03000 999999."
