Police are searching for a missing man whose car was found abandoned after a crash.

Jamie Donnelly, 29, was last seen in Lansbury Street, Greenock around 12.30pm on Saturday.

Hours later his empty car was discovered after a crash in Kilmacolm Road, near to Knocknairshill Cemetery.

The one-car accident was reported to the emergency services at about 8pm.

It is not known if Mr Donnelly was in the car at the time.

He is 5ft 6in tall, of medium build, with short brown hair, facial stubble and blue eyes.

When last seen he was wearing a blue hooded top, Nike jogging bottoms and white Adidas trainers.

Constable Kirsty Dominick at Greenock Police Office said: “It is completely out of character for Jamie not to be in contact with his family and friends and they are becoming increasingly concerned for his wellbeing.

"I urge anyone who has seen Jamie since noon on Saturday February 6 or anyone who knows of his present whereabouts to contact police at Greenock immediately via telephone 101."
