A shopkeeper was threatened with knives during a robbery in Glasgow.

Police said two men dressed in dark clothing entered Malik General Stores on Keppochhill Road in the Springburn area around 11am on Friday.

The men made off with a three-figure sum of cash after threatening the shopkeeper with knives.

They are thought to have ran off in the direction of Crichton Street after the robbery. No one was injured during the incident.

Both suspects are described as white men of medium build and height. One man was wearing entirely dark clothing and had most of his face covered.

The second suspect was wearing a navy coloured body warmer with a hooded top.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

Detective sergeant Peter Sharp, from the Community Investigation Unit at Pollok, said: "Thankfully no one was injured during the robbery, however, it was a very frightening experience for the staff at the shop.

"Our enquiries are still at quite an early stage. We are analysing available CCTV and conducting interviews. I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of the shop at the time of incident to contact police with any relevant information.

"You may have heard a disturbance, or seen someone running away from Keppochill Road around the time of the incident. You may think the information you hold is insignificant, but as part of our larger inquiry, your information could make all the difference.

"I would ask that anyone who has information about the man responsible or can help with our enquiries, please contact police at Pollok via the non-emergency number 101.

"You can also contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where confidentiality can be maintained.”
