An 82-year-old man has been reported over two alleged sex attacks on a resident at a care home.

The man allegedly sexually assaulted a 76-year-old woman two days in a row while at the care home in Argyll in January as a visitor.

Police have launched an investigation along with the Care Inspectorate into the incident at the home in Campbeltown. It is claimed the man returned the following day when the second incident happened.

Officers were called and the elderly man was reported on Tuesday January 26 over the alleged sex attack.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "We received a report of a 76-year-old woman having been sexually assaulted in Campeltown.

"An 82-year-old man is subject of a report to the procurator fiscal in connection with alleged sexual offences."

The Care Inspectorate said: "We have been notified of an allegation of a serious incident at this service.

"We are working closely with colleagues at Police Scotland and other partners. We are being kept fully informed and are monitoring this care home closely.

"We take all issues raised with us very seriously, and we use that intelligence to help us plan and support our inspections."
