Six people have been injured after a smash between a bus and car.

The collision happened at around 10.35am in Hamilton, Lanarkshire, on Wednesday and involved a car and what is believed to be a single decker First Bus.

A major emergency response was launched with several police, fire and ambulance crews dispatched to the scene in the town's Gateside Street.

Six passengers on the bus are believed to have suffered minor injuries.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 10.35am on Wednesday police were called to a report of a road crash involving a bus and a car on Gateside Street in Hamilton.

"Emergency services are in attendance at the scene. Six people within the bus are believed to have suffered minor injuries."
