U.S. and Afghan troops exchange fire with Pakistanis

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. and Afghan troops exchanged fire with Pakistani forces after they shot at two U.S. helicopters near the Afghanistan-Pakistan border on Thursday, a U.S. military official said. The official with U.S. Central Command, which is responsible for U.S. troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, said there were no reports of casualties from the exchange of fire, which lasted about five minutes. U.S. and Afghan forces were about one mile (1.6 km) inside Afghanistan at the time, he said.
