A woman has appeared in court charged with murder after a man who was found dead in a flat in Dundee.

Elizabeth Reid, 57, appeared on petition and in private at Dundee Sheriff Court on Thursday in front of Sheriff Elizabeth Munro.

Her court appearance follows the death of John Whyte, 50, at an address in the city's Provost Road.

Police were called to the address after reports of a disturbance at the property at around 1.15pm on Tuesday.

Mr Whyte was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.

Reid, of Dundee, made no plea or declaration and her case was continued for further examination.

She was remanded in custody.

Police have said the Provost Road death is not linked to the murder of John Kennedy in Dundee's Mossgiel Crescent two days earlier.
