Two men have been detained by police following an armed robbery in Angus.

A man walked into the Autosales car garage and showroom on Lindsay Street in Kirriemuir at around 9.15pm on Monday and threatened a 63-year-old staff member.

The man made off after robbing the store of a small amount of cash.

A Tayside Police spokesman said the female employee was left "shocked but unhurt" by the incident.

After launching an investigation into the robbery, officers detained two men, aged 27 and 34 in connection with the incident.

The men are "assisting police with their enquiries", the spokesman said.
