Four sheep have been killed and another 15 injured after they were attacked by a dog at a farm in Angus.
The animals were found at around 12.30pm on Tuesday January 3 at Newbarns Farm, Inverkeillor.
A member of the public spotted a dog in the field with the sheep and restrained it before the farmer arrived.
The farmer took the dog and passed it on to police officers when they arrived.
Tayside Police are now trying to trace the owner of the dog and the group of people who were in the area at the time of the incident.
The dog is described as being a large powerful dog, very dark brown in colour and is believed to be a Staffordshire bull terrier.
