A mattress was stolen from the scene of a serious sex attack before the crime was reported to police.
Detectives are investigating after a 23-year-old woman was woken by an intruder and then raped at her home in the Potterhill area of Perth on Monday at around midnight.
On Friday Tayside Police said after the attack but prior to the crime being reported someone entered the address during the day on Tuesday and stole a king size mattress.
Inquiries to date confirm that members of the public have seen someone carrying a large mattress during this time in the area.
The attack on the 23-year-old woman came just one day after a balaclava-clad man robbed a 68-year-old woman after assaulting her nearby at Bridgend Court. The attack happened at around 7.30pm on Sunday.
Police patrols in the area have been stepped up and residents have been warned to make sure their homes are secured.
Acting detective inspector Marc Lorente said: "I would appeal to members of the public who have seen this man or anyone carrying a large mattress during this time to contact us.
"Likewise I would also appeal for any members of the public who have disposed of any king size mattress within the Perthshire area between Monday and Wednesday to contact us."
