An intruder sexually assaulted and threatened a young woman as she slept at her home in Perth.
The incident happened in the Bridgend area of the city at around midnight on Monday.
The 23-year-old was attacked only days after another woman was assaulted and robbed in her home nearby.
Tayside Police officers investigating the second attack have described it as "particularly distressing".
Acting detective inspector Marc Lorente said: "This has been a particularly distressing incident for the woman involved.
"We have a number of officers dedicated to this inquiry and I would urge anyone who might be able to identify the man responsible or anyone who saw someone matching that description in the area, to get in touch with us.
"This attack follows on from a robbery nearby the previous night where a woman was attacked within her own home. I would urge any residents who have been aware of any males acting suspiciously around the area or have been victims of crimes in the area recently and who have not come forward to do so.
"As well as a significant inquiry team working on this case dedicated additional uniformed officers are also patrolling in the area."
The man responsible was wearing a navy-coloured scarf, a dark-coloured beanie hat, a grey jumper, and khaki green waterproof trousers with a black belt. He was also wearing khaki green boots and spoke with an English accent.
Officers are currently carrying out enquiries in the area and a thorough forensic examination of the address where the incident took place is also under way.
Anyone who recognises the description of the man, or anyone who has any information that may assist officers with their inquiries, should get in touch with Tayside Police on 0300 111 2222 or speak to any police officer.
