Andy Murray faces Novak Djokovic in bid to win first Grand Slam

Andy Murray will look to claim his first Grand Slam title when he takes on Novak Djokovic in the final of the US Open tennis championship.

The British number one saw off Tomas Berdych 3-1 in the last four of the competition, in Flushing Meadows, New York, on Saturday.

He will take on the Serbian at 9pm (UK time) and viewers can watch it on Sky Sports.

Organisers were forced to postpone the other semi-final between defending champion Djokovic and Spain's David Ferrer due to stormy weather, resulting in the tournament's schedule being put back a day.

Djokovic eventually made his way into his fourth US Open final, winning 3-1.

Murray, from Dunblane, has played Djokovic 14 times before, with the Serbian having won eight of them, including the pair's last gram slam final together at the 2011 Australian Open.

But Murray won their last head-to-head in two sets at the London 2012 Olympics semi-final, and went on the claim the gold medal in his final against Roger Federer.

The 25-year-old has now made it into five grand slam finals. He has been defeated by Federer in three and once by Djokovic.

The match, on Monday evening, will be Murray's second consecutive grand slam final after his Wimbledon loss to Federer, and his first US Open final since 2008.

After his semi final victory, he was congratulated by fellow Scots Sir Sean Connery and Sir Alex Ferguson.

Speaking ahead of the final, Murray said: "I handled a big match against him (Djokovic) well in Australia this year. It was a great match. I think both of us played very well. It came down to a couple of points.

"I know how much the Olympics meant to all of the players, and winning against him in the Olympic semi-final was a big win for me. I know how tough it is to beat the top, top players in big matches.

"I have had some tough losses against him but also had some big highs against him as well. Obviously it will be an unbelievably tough match. He moves very well on the hard courts. He's a top, top player, one of the best players that's played. The year he had last year is incredible."
