A pilot who died when his glider crashed during take off from an airport in Kinross has been named.
Mark Dickson, 49, from Troon, died in the incident at Portmoak Airfield, Scotlandwell at around 1.30pm on Tuesday.
Tayside Police said Mr Dickson, understood to be an experienced pilot, was found within an upside down Nimbus 3 aircraft and was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is understood the aircraft was in the process of taking off by winch method and had only been a matter of feet off the ground when the accident happened.
No one else was injured.
An investigation, involving Tayside Police, the Air Accident Investigation Bureau and the Civil Aviation Authority, is being carried out to establish the full set of circumstances surrounding the incident.
A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
