A 38-year-old man has been detained after a fire at a three-story block of flats in Dundee.

Tayside Police said the blaze in the city's Hilltown area was being treated as suspicious.

Firefighters had to rescue a man from the roof of the block and lead residents below to safety.

The blaze started in the attic of the building at about 8.30pm on Monday.

Police confirmed they were questioning a man while a joint investigation with the fire service is continuing.

Tayside Fire and Rescue Service said they received a large volume of calls about the incident.

Residents from all four of the flats within the building were led to safety and everyone was accounted for.
