Wounded servicemen and women turn to golf to aid rehabilitation

Wounded servicemen and women are turning to golf to aid their rehabilitation and help them find a new career path.

The On Course Foundation will host its first major fundraising drive in Dundee next month.

Ian Bishop, a former marine, has been helped by the charity.

He lost both his legs while he was serving with Arbroath based 45 Commando in Afghanistan in 2009.

As well as intensive medical treatment, it is golf that has helped the 31-year-old’s rehabilitation.

The father of two is now employed by the On Course Foundation, a charity that helps veterans recover from life changing injuries and help them find employment.

The Foundation is now embarking on its biggest fundraiser in Scotland next month.

Injured service personnel will be among 200 golfers teeing off at Ballumbie Castle Golf Course in Dundee on September 9.
