Two teenagers have been detained after a street brawl in Dundee left two men seriously injured.

The men, aged 30 and 31, were taken to Ninewells Hospital with serious injuries following a disturbance in the Maryfield area on Sunday.

A spokesman for Tayside Police said the incident happened in Ogilvie Street/Dundonald Street at about 8.25pm.

Both men remained in hospital overnight, although their injuries were not believed to be life threatening.

Two teenage boys, aged 15 and 16, are currently being detained in connection with the incident.

Detective inspector Mike Pirie said: "The injured men had been drinking in the 4Js bar just prior to the incident and were on their way to another pub nearby, when the disturbance broke out. We know that there were as many as ten people in the street at the time, both men and women and a number of them in their teens, and that there would have been a fair degree of noise generated.

"I would ask that anyone who saw or heard anything get in touch with us as they may be able to help our inquiries."
