The death of a father found seriously injured in a street is being treated as murder.
John McMurchie, 50, from Errol, Perthshire, was discovered by two members of the public lying in Dundee's Fintry Terrace, near its junction with Whitfield Drive, at about 4am on Sunday.
He was taken to the city's Ninewells hospital but died a short time later.
Tayside Police confirmed on Tuesday that they are now treating his death as murder.
The force said a 63-year-old man who had been arrested in connection with the incident has since been released without charge.
Mr McMurchie was found 30 minutes after leaving an address at Murrayfield Gardens, which is less than half-a-mile away.
Tayside Police said investigations are continuing in Fintry Terrace, Whitfield Drive and Murrayfield Gardens, and officers want to speak to anyone who was in the area between 3.30am and 4am on Sunday.
They also appealed to local businesses and householders with CCTV systems to get in touch on the force's dedicated enquiry line 01382 591 940.
