Scotland's links with UAE celebrated in Dundee

Scotland's links with one of the world's richest countries have been celebrated in Dundee.

Emirates Festival Day, hosted by the city's Al-Maktoum Institute, brought together a wide range of people who have benefited from Scotland's strong relationship with the United Arab Emirates.

Dundee is the only city in the UK to have a sister city link with Dubai.

It has led to a variety of business and cultural benefits, and the organisers believe there are more opportunities to be had.

Al-Maktoum Institute Principal Professor Malory Nye said: "We've now had five very successful years of the Emirates link, flying directly into Glasgow, Emirates Airline.

“We have the Turnberry development, we have the sister city agreement between Dundee and Dubai and there's a lot of business interests going both ways, from Dubai and the Emirates into Scotland and also from Scotland into the Emirates.

“These links are growing and developing and we're very pleased to bring together some of the key people involved in these links for further discussion and to see where we go for the future."
