A stretch of motorway was closed for over half an hour after a cow on the loose made its way onto the road.

Part of the M9 near Stirling was closed during the incident at around 9pm on Tuesday.

Lanes were closed in both directions between Junction 11 Keir and Junction 10 Craigforth.

The road opened as normal at around 9.30pm.

A spokeswoman from Central Scotland Police confirmed that there was a cow on the road on Tuesday evening.

She added that the situation had been dealt with.
