A dress rehearsal for the Olympic Torch Relay in Dundee will be held on Tuesday.
Tayside Police have warned the public that while the test will not mirror the scale and grandeur of the relay event, there will be a significant convoy of marked police vehicles, including motorcycles, which will travel the same route through Dundee.
The exercise will take place in the mid to late morning on Tuesday.
Chief Inspector Delyth Cunnah of Tayside Police’s operational support department said: ‘‘The Olympic Torch Relay coming to Tayside is a once in a lifetime event and it is important that we are fully prepared and test our arrangements. While we are replicating the actual size and scale of the actual relay, we will be simulating the speed limits that it will travel at along the route that the torch will take.
‘‘This is likely to lead to some traffic delays but we would ask drivers and the wider public for their understanding and support as out ultimate aim is to ensure that this prestigious event runs smoothly on the day.’’
The Olympic Torch Relay is set to take place in the city on Tuesday, June 12.
