Hundreds of workers at the Diageo plant in Glasgow have had a special treat this morning, thanks to Formula One's world champion.

Lewis Hamilton gave them a thrilling demonstration of his title-winning McLaren-Mercedes car - the first time it has appeared in Scotland- outside the Shieldhall factory.

He says he was delighted to put on the show and thank the staff for their support.

He said: "I'm very excited to be here and I've been working with Johnnie Walker now for a couple of years but it's the first time I've been up here in Glasgow at Shieldhall, and I get to do a bit of a demonstration. I was driving the car yesterday, the actual 2009 car, but to do the doughnuts, you don't actually get to do that on a real racetrack."

The Johnnie Walker brand is one of the sponsors of the Vodafone McLaren-Mercedes team, to promotes a responsible drinking message.

After the fun of today, the hard work of developing the new car begins for Lewis ahead of the Australian Grand Prix in March.
