Police investigating attack in Erskine

A man was left with severe internal injuries after a gang chased and tried to kill him in Erskine.

Police investigating the evening assault, which happened near the Macduff area of the town, are appealing for witnesses to the attack to come forward.

The incident happened around 9.30pm on Monday August 30 and the 18-year-old victim was rushed to the Southern General Hospital, in Glasgow, where he was treated for his injuries to his body.

Police are treating the attack as attempted murder and have launched an investigation to identify the gang members responsible.

Appealing for information today, Detective Constable John Hume, Paisley police, said: "We have no clear motive for the assault at this time, however officers have been making extensive enquiries throughout the area.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Macduff at this time and who saw the group to contact us. We would also like to speak to anybody who may have seen this group in the area of North Barr before or after the attack to come forward."

Two men have been arrested and appeared in court in connection with the incident.
