A motorcyclist is seriously ill in hospital after a crash in Hamilton.

The 22-year-old was riding a Honda motorbike in the town when it collided with a parked car.

He was taken to hospital after the crash, which happened on Meikle Earnock Road at around 9.15pm on Friday.

The car that was hit, a Jaguar, was parked around 100 metres west of Annfield Road, according to police.

The man was initially taken to Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride but was later transferred to the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow. Hospital staff there described his condition as "serious but stable".

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash.
