A married couple found shot dead at their home in Bishopbriggs have been identified by police.
Police said the bodies of James Harley and Diane Harley were discovered in St Andrews Avenue, near Bishopbriggs Golf Course and Turnbull High School.
Mr Harley, 51, and Mrs Harley, 47, have two teenage children. Police say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the shooting which is understood to being treated as a domestic incident.
Mrs Harley's mother lives a street away and was being comforted by her son Jim. Fighting back tears, he said: "I just don't know what to say."
Detective Inspector Stephen Grant of Kirkintilloch CID said: "We are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths of Mr and Mrs Harley. I would like to reassure members of the local community that this incident poses no risk or danger to anyone else."
Neighbours spoke to STV News about their shock and described the couple as "very nice" and part of a close-knit community.
One neighbour Bill Kerr, 56, said: "They were very much a family. Both of their children, a boy and a girl, are still at school. They have been here for 15 years or more.
"They were very nice. I found out when I came home last night that something had happened. It is a very big shock as it's a close-knit community here."
Strathclyde Police said an armed response team was called to the property, near Glasgow, about 7pm on Tuesday.
Another neighbour, who did not want to be named, said he came home from work at around 8pm to find the street cordoned off with two armed response units at the scene. He said officers were shouting into the house, and they subsequently forced the front door open. There was a large police presence until the early hours, with forensic investigations taking place. A police presence remains at the scene while the investigation continues.
Mr Harley is understood to have been a taxi driver and involved in limo hire. Both him and his wife had previously worked for security company Rock Steady, which is well known for its work at football matches and music events.
A spokesperson for G4S Events: “We can confirm that both Jim Harley and Diane Harley were employed by RockSteady prior to its acquisition by G4S in 2008.
“Mr Harley left RockSteady in 1995 prior to the acquisition by G4S, however, Mrs Harley continued to work for the company and was consequently employed by G4S Events. G4S extends its deepest sympathies to the family of Mr and Mrs Harley at this very difficult time.”
A police spokeswoman said: "At around 7.45pm on Tuesday March 16 the bodies of a male and female were found within a property on St Andrews Avenue, Bishopbriggs.
"A full report will be sent to the procurator fiscal and post mortem examinations will be carried out in due course to establish the exact cause of death."
