Two young Dumbarton mothers have launched an internet campaign to get something done about their town centre.
The Save Dumbarton High Street group was launched a few weeks ago but already has more than 600 members, most of them locals who feel the same way.
Locals say their once thriving main street has become a no go area and they plan to hold a public meeting to generate ideas about improving their town.
Sharon McLeish and Carolynn Farquhar, who have lived in Dumbarton all of their lives, say the town has fallen sharply into decline.
Sharon McLeish said: "Initially we were discussing the possibility of a new nightclub in Dumbarton and we started discussing why we really need shops for during the day, there is not a lot of choice in the shops in the area, all the main shops have all gone away.
"Lots of shops are closing, there are lots of empty shops and no one is going back into them, and really it is disheartening when you come down the high street and you see all the empty outlets and really there is nothing for the shops that are here, the choice is really poor and what we are hoping for is to clean the place up as well, brightened up to make it look more prosperous because right now it looks very poor and not a nice place to come."
