Police today appealed for a taxi driver to contact them after a man's body was found on a main road.

Dean Geary, 19, was found on the A811 Drymen to Gartocharn road in Stirlingshire yesterday morning.

A member of the public spotted Mr Geary, who had a serious head injury, at 5.30am.

Officers said Mr Geary, who was from Alexandria, West Dunbartonshire, was in Glasgow city centre shortly before 3am where they believe he got into a taxi.

Detective Sergeant Donnie Gunn, of Central Scotland Police, said: "We are still trying to establish Dean's exact movements between Glasgow city centre and the location where he was found.

"We are extremely keen to trace the driver of a taxi who we believe picked Dean up in Glasgow city centre.

"The journey may have been to the area of Alexandria, Gartocharn or Drymen but we do not know where he got out of that vehicle.

"We are also very keen to hear from anyone who might have been driving along the A811 in either direction and who might have seen Dean walking in the area at that time of the morning."

Police said the death is unexplained.
