Police investigations are continuing after a man’s body was found at a roadside near Drymen.

A passer-by alerted police after stumbling upon the body which had a serious head injury at around 5.30am on Sunday on the A811 Drymen to Gartocharn road.

The identity of the man, believed to be in his early twenties, has not been released but police believe he was in Glasgow city centre hours before his death.

A spokesman for Central Scotland Police said: “At this point in time officers are trying to establish the circumstances of the man's death, which are currently unexplained.

“The man has suffered a serious head injury and investigations are currently focused on how he came by his injury and died at this particular location.

“One line of inquiry which is being looked into is that the man appears to have been in the George Street area of Glasgow shortly before 3am today.

“Officers are obviously keen to trace anyone who might be able to help confirm the man's identity and movements in the early hours of the morning prior to his death.”

The victim was wearing a dark top, jeans and canvas shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Central Scotland Police on 01786 456000.
