A man who was convicted of sexually abusing two young sisters 16 years ago is facing a lengthy prison sentence.
On Thursday, 60-year-old James Gunn was found guilty of using lewd, indecent and libidinous practices towards the girls which began when they were aged 11 and 14.
Gunn, of Quarry Street, New Stevenston, North Lanarkshire, denied all the charges against him and claimed his victims had made it all up.
The offences came to light after the girls’ mother caught Gunn abusing one of the them.
Prosecutor Gillian Wade told the court that Gunn has no previous convictions.
Temporary judge Alastair Stewart QC told Gunn: "You have been found guilty of a serious charge. The inevitable consequence is a lengthy term of imprisonment."
Judge Stewart also placed Gunn on the sex offenders' register and deferred sentence until next year in order to obtain background reports.
