Glasgow Sheriff Court heard that a student nurse was dragged by the hair across a subway station floor because she refused to give two teenage thugs a bottle of wine.
Isobel McLucas, 23, was on her way home when 17-year-old Liam Grant and 18-year-old Chelsey Speirs viciously attacked her at Glasgow's St Georges Cross Subway station.
Grant and Speirs pulled Miss McLucas to the ground and dragged her by the hair to the ticket kiosk before picking her back up and banging her head against the metal desk.
Miss McLucas's purse and her bottle of wine were then grabbed before her attackers ran off.
Grant and Speirs had asked her for a drink of a bottle of white wine she had in a carrier bag and pounced on her when she refused to give it to them.
Subway staff called for police and an ambulance and the student was taken to the Western Infirmary where she was treated for bruised and swollen lips, arms and legs. Grant and Speirs were later identified from CCTV footage of the attack
Grant, from Scotstoun, and Speirs, from Ruchill, admitted assaulting Miss McLucas and robbing her of her rucksack, purse and the bottle of wine on September 8, 2008.
Grant's lawyer told the court that his client was extremely remorseful for what had happened, and the apprentice roofer had recently became a dad and was trying to get his life back on track.
Speirs' lawyer added that she was also sorry for what had happened.
Sheriff Martin Jones deferred sentence until next month for reports
