The count has opened at the Glasgow North East by-election.
As volunteers begin to count the votes cast, the British National Party’s candidate Charlie Baillie has claimed that not only will his party keep its deposit for the first time in a Scottish election, but they could finish third behind the SNP and Labour.
Mr Baillie has also claimed his party could achieve as much as ten per cent of the vote.
The votes are currently being counted at the SECC in Glasgow.
Earlier, STV News learnt that the turnout for Thursday’s by-election in Glasgow North East could be the lowest in Scottish by-election history.
It is thought that a maximum of 35% of the electorate decided to vote in the election.
If that is the case, the turnout at the constituency will be even lower than in Falkirk West in 2000, when Eric Joyce won the day after a turnout of 36%.
If the turnout is 35%, that will mean only an approximate 17,000 votes were cast. To put that into perspective, nearly two thirds of that number (11,000) are also at the SECC tonight - to watch Will Young and Kasabian in concert.
The counting hall at the SECC has filled up with party supporters, with all candidates out in force. Mikey Hughes, standing as an independent, turned up dressed in full Scottish garb.
The by-election was sparked following the resignation of Michael Martin, the former Speaker of the House of Commons, over his handling of the expenses scandal which rocked Westminster.
Results are expected to be announced at around 12.30am.
