The Cowal Highland Gathering is under way in Argyll, with hundreds of traditional dancers and thousands of pipers expected to attend.
The event, which dates back to 1894, runs all weekend.
Attractions include traditional athletics including tossing the caber, hammer throw and shot put.
Local food and drink will also be featured.
On Saturday, the Red Hot Chilli Pipers will be the main event along with a series of ceilidh bands.
The festivities will be rounded off with a fireworks display.
