Two teenage boys have appeared in court charged with murdering a woman who died in a house fire.
Stephen Muir, 16, and a 14-year-old boy who cannot be named for legal reasons are accused of setting fire to Angela Brown's home in Kilwinning, Ayrshire leaving her so injured that she later died in hospital.
The pair are also charged with the attempted murder of three children, aged 12, six and three, during the same blaze on September 28 last year.
Muir and his co-accused appeared in the dock for a preliminary hearing at the High Court in Glasgow.
It is claimed the pair, along with Ryan Dobbie, 16, first stole a computer and games consoles from Ms Brown's home in Culzean Place, Kilwinning.
Muir and the 14-year-old are then alleged to have set fire to the house that "they knew or ought to have reasonably known was occupied" resulting in the alleged murder of Ms Brown.
The pair also face other charges relating to the same evening.
Judge John Morris QC adjourned the case until a further preliminary hearing next month.
