RAF Leuchars gears up for annual airshow

All roads lead to RAF Leuchars this weekend for the annual airshow and preparations are well under way to handle the surge in traffic.

Around 45,000 people are expected to attend the event to watch displays including the Red Arrows and Typhoons.

Police are urging motorists to use public transport or take advantage of the two park and ride sites.

Inspector Bruce Thomson of Fife Constabulary "We are looking at something like 10,000 cars coming to the area and the area isn't really made, doesn't have the infrastructure for that, so it's inevitable that there will be some delays.

“The weather forecast is very good so I do anticipate a big crowd so I would ask everybody to please be patient, follow the signs, follow the points personnel and lets all hope we have a good day at the airshow."
