Whisky may be a drink associated with distinguished gentlemen at your local bowling or golf club.
However, new research has found a significant increase in the number of female connoisseurs thirsting over a wee dram.
One Scottish distillery – GlenDronach - has revamped its image to meet its new female customers.
The Aberdeenshire distillery was bought over last year by the BenRiach distillery company.
It's now investing more than £250,000 to kick start its brand with the female market in mind.
The distillery is changing three of its blends to accomodate the growing feminine fan base.
Alan McConnochie, of GlenDronach Distillery, said: "As more and more people discover different tastes and differences from region to region - from distillery to distillery - many ladies are discovering it's not the male dominated drink it once was.
"There are different types, expressions and finishes. They are enjoying it and long may it continue."
