The remains of a man have been recovered from a wreck at a popular diving spot, police said today.
A group of divers discovered the body in Scapa Flow, Orkney, on Monday afternoon.
The remains could be those of a diver who went missing in the area more than two years ago.
A search was launched in October 2007 after Martin Voordouw, 40, from the Netherlands, was reported missing.
Mr Voordouw was due to surface at midday on October 23 but failed to return to his dive boat, the Jean Elaine, although his diving companion reappeared.
It is thought he was exploring one of the vessels in the German grand fleet which sank at Scapa Flow.
The remains recovered yesterday have not yet been identified.
A spokesman for Northern Constabulary said: "On February 8, the remains of a male diver were recovered from a wreck in Scapa Flow, Orkney.
"A post-mortem examination will take place in Inverness and a report on the circumstances will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in Kirkwall.
"No further details are available at this time."
