An international clothing firm has been criticised after advertising for “good looking” people to apply for jobs at its new Aberdeen store.
US fashion giant Abercrombie & Fitch placed the poster outside its unit in the city’s Union Square.
The firm has previously been fined after a woman in one of their London stores won a wrongful-dismissal case when she was forced to work in the stockroom because her prosthetic arm did not fit the company’s looks policy.
The controversial banner outside the store reads: “We are looking for cool and good-looking people to come and represent our brands”.
The company has denied that the poster is in any way discriminatory.
However north-east Labour MSP Richard Baker disagrees and has called for the advertisement to be removed immediately.
A company spokesman said: “Abercrombie and Fitch has a strong anti-discrimination and anti-harassment policy and is committed to ensuring a diverse work force and to providing equal employment opportunities to all individuals.
“We are looking for fun people with a great appearance and sense of style to represent our brand and market our clothes.
“Diversity is always an important part of our staffing strategy. We believe there are fun people with great appearance and sense of style from all backgrounds and walks of life and we do not tolerate discrimination in hiring or employment.”
