Two thugs who carried out a vicious and unprovoked attack on a Polish cleaner, leaving him with horrific injuries, have been jailed.
Keith Porter pounced on Jaroslaw Janeczek as he sat in his car outside his Aberdeen home in July this year - just two days after he had been spared jail for another assault.
Porter battered the 39 year-old, and kicked a three-foot stick inside him until it was hidden in his body.
The 21-year-old's friend George Stewart, 24, also joined in on the attack on the helpless victim.
Porter plead guilty to attempted murder and Stewart admitted assault to severe injury at the High Court in Glasgow last month.
On Thursday Porter was jailed for nine years and four months. Stewart was jailed for three years and three months.
An accusation that the attack on Mr Janeczek was racially motivated was deleted from the libel.
The victim required massive surgery after a piece of wood was found completely hidden in his body. It had penetrated the stomach and liver although fortunately narrowly missed his heart.
The court was told the victim was left badly scarred, but luckily made an "unremarkable recovery" although has since required further surgery.
