Aberdeenshire Council have said they are monitoring a section of the cliff face in the picturesque village of Pennan (pictured).

On Tuesday evening, officials said there is potential for a landslide which could block the only access road into the village.

Residents have been informed that the road may have to be closed if the situation worsens.

A spokesman for the council has stressed that the matter is not related to previous landslides in the area and that no homes are at risk.
