Man airlifted after Isle of Skye fall

A 19-year-old man has been airlifted to hospital in a serious condition after falling in the Loch Coruisk area of the Cuillins, Isle of Skye on Monday afternoon.

The man, who is a foreign national, was walking with a friend, fell a short distance just before midday and suffered a head injury. The alarm was raised by his companion at approx 11.55am.

Skye Mountain Rescue Team were called out along with Stornoway coastguard's Rescue 100 helicopter.

The man was airlifted by Rescue 100 and taken to Broadford Hospital before being transferred to Southern General Hospital in Glasgow.
