A north-east pub that claims to be the most famous in Scotland has been sold.
The Pennan Inn, which featured in the 1983 Burt Lancaster film ‘Local Hero’, has been closed since August 2007.
The very same day the Aberdeenshire village was devastated by mudslides following torrential rain.
Government and Aberdeen City Council money has been promised to stabilise the surrounding cliffs to prevent a similar incident in the future.
However with no buyer coming forward over the last two years fears were raised that the pub would never re-open.
Solicitor Matthew Cohen, who organised the sale of the inn, said it would be a "big boost" for the town.
It is unknown who the buyers of the pub are but it is understood they plan to re-open as soon as possible.
