The Old Manse: Voted top B&B by public
A former manse close to Loch Ness has been voted the best B&B in the world by the public on a travel website.
The Old Manse at Invermoriston in the Highlands received the accolade from world travellers in the annual travellers' choice hotel awards organised by the TripAdvisor company.
The Old Manse in Invermoriston was called “absolute paradise” by one TripAdvisor traveller and “a magical romantic oasis” by another. The Highland retreat scored 100% from past guests that would recommend the property.
Julie Mitchell, owner of The Olde Manse, said: “We’re thrilled to be recognised by TripAdvisor as a 2011 Travellers' Choice award-winning hotel. We believe our commitment to providing our guests with outstanding service and value has helped us achieve this tremendous honour from TripAdvisor travellers as the best B&B in the world.”
TripAdvisor is the world’s largest travel site and the ninth annual awards is widely recognised as the 'Oscars of the hotel world'.
Other UK establishments also dominated the world's top ten B&B list, occupying six of the first eight places. World travellers placed Edinburgh's Hotel Missoni in second place in the trendiest hotels in Europe table.
World travellers also thought enough of Abbot's Brae Hotel in Dunoon for it to make seventh place in the best service in Europe table.
Emma O'Boyle from TripAdvisor said: "The awards celebrate the stars of the hotel industry and Scotland performed extraordinarily this year."
Unlike any other hotel awards, TripAdvisor’s Travellers’ Choice awards are based on the experiences of millions of travellers from around the world.
