East Lothian Council has awarded a further round of grants for organisations to develop and stage events as part of homecoming 2009.

Over £21,500 has been given to seven organisations as part of the festival celebrating Scotland's culture and heritage.

Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh has received two grants worth £9,000 to stage two events.

A Homecoming Finale in November will be an open-campus event with educational and fun activities that celebrates Scottish culture.

The second event called Kaleidoscope, is a photographic exhibition of East Lothian Architecture by Dougie Barnett.

Homecoming Dunbar has received £4,000 to stage various events throughout the year in the Dunbar and East Linton area on the themes of music, art drama, dance history and literacy.

Nearly £3,000 is to go the Musselburgh Arts Festival and Musselburgh Grammar School will receive £1,500 to mount an exhibition called Art in the Community.

The Troubadour Festival has been given £3,000 to stage events at Meadowmill Sports Complex in Tranent aimed at encouraging young people to explore their country's musical heritage.

The council's Local History and Archives Service is to receive £1,000 to organise a travelling exhibition featuring items from its collections that relate to the county's heritage.

Councillor Paul McLennan said in a statement: "Homecoming East Lothian now has a programme of around fifty events taking place throughout the county up to the finale in November.

"There are lots of different events and lots of choice for people of all ages and interests. Thanks to everyone who applied to the Council for grants, the quality of entries was high and the choices as to who got financial assistance were difficult to make. Congratulations to those who were successful."
