A convicted killer who sexually assaulted a four-year-old girl was already on the sex offender register.
A jury at the High Court at Livingston was only told of Mohammed Akram's past after they found him guilty of indecently assaulting the youngster during a New Year's Day party in her home.
Akram, 50, sneaked into the girl's bedroom and groped her while other guests partied in the living room with her mother.
He denied detaining the child against her will and handling her private parts on January 1, 2011. He chose not to give evidence in his defence.
During the three day trial the jury was told that he had touched his innocent young victim in a "shameful, sexually inappropriate and criminal way".
They accepted the child's evidence as credible and reliable. In a video interview she told them Akram had pushed her onto a bed and touched her private parts.
She described him as "horrible and nasty" and said the "strange" assault had hurt her.
Advocate depute Laura Thomson told the jury in her closing speech: "There is no reason for a 50-year-old man to touch a child's private parts other than for sexual gratification."
Following the guilty verdict, judge Lord Brodie revealed that Akram, who also calls himself Prince, had been sent to prison for five years in 1979 after being convicted of culpable homicide.
He had also been jailed for eight-years in 2002 for indecently assaulting a teenage student in her home in Alloa.
The judge in that case ordered that Akram be placed under strict supervision for three years when he was released from prison.
Akram will be sentenced for assaulting the four-year-old in six weeks.
