Police are hunting an armed gang who attacked a man in his home in Fife before making off with a mobile phone.

The incident occured on Friday March 12, but only came to light on Monday when officers appealed for information. They said a group of four men, one carrying an offensive weapon, entered the house on Lochgelly's Main Street and threatened the terrified man.

They then assaulted him before making off with a mobile. Police said the attackers were not known to their victim, who was left with minor injuries. It is thought they let themselves into the house through an unlocked door.

The group are all described as being aged between 20 and 40.

One of them had sideburns, deep set eyes and big eyebrows, and was wearing white Fred Perry trainers.

Another man was described as having gelled spiky hair and wearing a pair of boots while a third was wearing a dark 'tammy' hat with a light stripe.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Fife Constabulary on 0845 600 5702 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
