After sharpening their elbows for months, Scotland's fashionistas will finally get the chance to get their hands on some cut price designer goods on Saturday. And the spending spree will be for a good cause.
Retail Guru Mary Portas opens Scotland's first boutique charity shop in Edinburgh's Stockbridge in aid of Save The Children.
The first few through the door at Mary's Living and Giving shop will get the chance to grab stock donated by stars including Jamie Oliver and Peaches Geldof, as well as current season donations from top designers, without the high end price tag.
The store aims to bring a fashion edge to the charity shop market and encourages people to donate high quality goods each time they buy to remain shopping neutral.
It will also offer local business owners to trade from the shop floor. Jewellery designers, painters and even bakers can get their own businesses off the ground by trading from the boutique, splitting the proceeds with the charity.
A similar pop-up venture in London raised £110,000 in just three weeks and now Ms Portas is hoping the venture will be similarly popular north of the border.
She said: “This is a shop for everyone and we want it to be a place that will inspire Edinburgh to give. The designer bargains in our charity shop will be fantastic and the store has the potential to attract people from across the whole of Scotland.
"We want to create a real buzz around second hand shopping and make the old fashioned charity shop a thing of the past. It may seem crazy to sell such quality goods at reasonable prices, but the money raised will be well spent and it costs as little as £5 to save a child’s life”.
