As the recession continues to bite, one Edinburgh sales event appears to be going from strength to strength.
Thousands of art lovers are expected to descend on the capital at the weekend for the fifth annual Edinburgh Art Fair.
The first event in 2004 attracted around 3,000 people. However, the organisers say they are expecting four times that number to cross the threshold at this year's two day event.
It is now one of the biggest arts events in Scotland, with more than a thousand pieces snapped up last year.
More than 60 galleries from across the globe are taking part, with works from as far afield as Argentina and the Czech Republic up for grabs.
A gala preview evening will be held on Friday, with the sale officially opening at the city's Corn Exchange on Saturday morning.
Prices will range from £75 to £35,000.
