Just some of the alcohol seized last weekend
Youngsters in an East Lothian town are putting themselves at risk by drinking too much.
Police in North Berwick have issued an appeal to parents to keep a closer eye on their teens after an increase in incidents involving underage boozing.
One 15-year-old girl was charged by police after allegedly being caught buying cigarettes and alcohol using her 21-year-old sister's passport. She has now been reported to the children's panel.
Officers say there have also been concerns about the areas the youngsters are choosing to drink in, such as seaside rocks which would be very dangerous when drunk.
Officers seized 102 litres of drink from teens in the town last weekend alone, including fine wine and malt whisky. The types of drink recovered have prompted suspicions the kids are stealing it from their family drinks cabinets.
Local Police Inspector Ian Mackay said: “It is very worrying to note the increase in the amount of youth alcohol abuse in North Berwick. I am concerned for their safety and well being and the resultant impact it is having on the community.
"I urge parents to increase their awareness of what their child is upto especially at the weekend”
If any person wishes advice on this matter it is requested they contact the local community beat officers at North Berwick.
