Two teenagers were taken to hospital after being rescued from a burning flat in Hawick by fire fighters.
The alarm was raised by a neighbour who heard a smoke alarm go off at the property in the town’s Lothian Street at around 4am on Saturday.
The young men, both 19, were in the top-floor flat and were taken to Borders General Hospital after breathing in smoke.
A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service said: "Both men suffered smoke inhalation and were taken to hospital by the ambulance service. The alarm was raised by a neighbour who heard the smoke alarm from the flat."
