East Lothian man dead after incident on farm

A man has died after he was struck by a forklift truck on a farm in East Lothian.

The 57-year-old was from Macmerry near Tranent.

Lothian and Borders Police said he died as he was working at the rear of a reversing forklift truck at the Greendykes Farm in Macmerry on Friday morning.

Despite the efforts of paramedics who attended, the man succumbed to his injuries and died at the farm.

Specialist Accident Investigators from Lothian and Borders Police and the Health and Safety Executive attended and a report is being prepared for the Procurator Fiscal.

Police said details of the deceased are being withheld until next of kin have been informed.
